Always-on
What does Always-on mean?
Always-on marketing is a continuing program of marketing activity that helps customers discover, evaluate, and use a product between individual campaigns.
Search content, automated welcome emails, and ongoing customer communications can form an always-on program. The activity still needs maintenance, measurement, and a budget. In operational contexts, 'always-on' can instead mean a service remains available continuously; the intended meaning depends on the sentence.
Illustrative workplace example
A business keeps its product guides and welcome-email sequence running throughout the year, while adding a separate, time-limited campaign for a new product launch.
How it differs from related ideas
A campaign has a defined objective and timeframe. Always-on activity provides a continuing baseline. It does not mean employees must answer messages around the clock.
Say it in plain English
Keep our core marketing running between campaigns.
Original dictionary entry
A marketing or operational approach that runs continuously without breaks, like a 24/7 digital presence.
